Clean Water: The Foundation of Life and Hope
Every day began the same way for Salila—a grueling half-hour trek to the village waterhole. “I suffered a lot,” she recalls. “We had a great struggle when we didn’t have the Jesus Well in our village.”
Salila’s day revolved around water—collecting it, using it sparingly and making multiple trips to the distant source. “I must get up early in the morning and go to this place to fetch water,” she says. “I must prepare food, get children ready for school, take care of everything, clean the house. And then when everything is over, then I go to work.”
The Jesus Well has profoundly transformed Salila’s life—and her family’s. With clean, accessible water now available right outside their home, her family’s health has improved dramatically, reducing the frequency of waterborne illnesses. Salila can now arrive at work in the tea garden on time, securing her family’s income. Her children attend school regularly, no longer delayed by water-gathering chores
This simple change hasn’t just provided water; it has given Salila’s family the precious gifts of better health, education and economic stability. Through the generosity of Bridge Builders, Salila and her community now have hope for a brighter future, demonstrating the life-changing impact of clean water access.
