The South Gujarat Region
With ample rain and a moderate climate, the southern region of Gujarat offers especially fertile land for farming. Along with producing sugarcane, many people in this area make their living cultivating wheat and corn.
Fishing is also a major part of the South Gujarat economy, while others work as expert craftsmen, making baskets and decorations from bamboo. Many residents are also employed by the industrial and manufacturing companies in this area.
Although other areas of Gujarat speak the state language of Gujarati, the southern region is different. In these rural farm villages, it is common for the people to only speak the local dialects.
