The South Tamil Nadu Region
The South Tamil Nadu Region is comprised of both coastal areas and agricultural land—as well as some major cities. People along the coastal strip fish to earn a living, while in other areas people raise cattle. The city of Sivakasi is known for its fireworks industry.
Tamil is the main language spoken here, but Telugu and Malayalam are other common languages.
Irish missionary Amy Carmichael devoted her life to ministry in this region in the early 1900s.
